Cailan Laine
Cailan was born in the Cayman Islands, and moved to Canada at age two. As a toddler, Cailan was often described as dinner and a show because of her quick wit and humor beyond her years. Cailan was always putting on a show, writing plays, and casting her friends and family. It wasn't a surprise that she found her niche when she started acting at age 8.
Cailan lives in Ontario's beautiful Muskoka, limiting what she auditions for due to the lengthy drive to Toronto. At age 8 Cailan spent a day on the set of Orphan Black and realized then her love for the excitement of acting life. Shortly afterward she was cast as Iona Turner in David's Child, followed by a Hakim Optical Halloween commercial.
It was then Cailan's mother had to say no to commercials to avoid the commute and Cailan took a year off from TV and film to focus on theatre, which was available much closer.
After the break she signed with a new agent and was soon cast as Shelby on Ponysitters Club, where she went on to film 20 episodes for Brainpower Studios, airing in Brazil and later on Netflix in 21 countries. Following she filmed A Christmas Village, Gaumont, and soon back on set with Brainpower to film two Ponysitters Club movies to be released in 2020 and 2021. Cailan recently filmed a documentary on wildlife and wildlife sanctuaries, a project near and dear to her heart. Her passion for the business extends beyond acting, and she has written and filmed a short film, with the sequel to follow in 2022, filled with a cast of actors she's worked with over the last four years.
Cailan pushes herself to do her best with everything she takes on. She maintains an A+ average and always puts her education first. In her free time she can be found volunteering and fund-raising for Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, Ontario's largest wildlife sanctuary.
When Cailan is not filming she's promoting a healthy outdoor lifestyle for kids of all ages, as well as teaching people about Muskoka's wildlife through her Instagram page @explore_with_muskoka_girl and her YouTube series of the same name.
Cailan is passionate about the environment, healthy lifestyles, and animals as well as writing. She has been putting pen to paper since she was five and at age ten was writing plays and TV episodes for pure enjoyment. Cailan has written a children's book series (10 books), working side by side with her mother who illustrated based on Cailan's vision. She hopes to see this series published before the year is up.
Cailan figure skates year round, is an assistant coach, has a passion for dance and trampoline and loves spending time with her dog Tinkerbell who was cast as Duchess Tiara on Ponysitters Club.
Cailan aspires to continue acting and writing but will always find time for her work with environmental issues, wildlife and fund-raising. Cailan was honored to receive the Youth in Philanthropy Award for Central Ontario in 2019, as well as the youngest nominee for the Women of Distinction Award for 2019.
