Born and raised in Houston, TX, Liz has been focused on a career in acting since her 1st Grade teacher told her she was a "born performer." From that moment on she has been very passionate about acting. She has cultivated her craft through years of experience in the industry and a strong theater education. She received her BFA from the University of Evansville. Other graduates include Rami Malek, Kelli Giddish, Rutina Wesley, Carrie Preston & Jack McBrayer. She then went on to receive her MFA from UCSD where one of her most notable roles was Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night. After school she moved to Los Angeles where she has studied sketch and improv at both The Groundlings School and Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Liz can be see playing Principal Biggs on the critically-acclaimed, multi award-winning ABC hit comedy Black-ish. She lives in Los Angeles with her partner and Shih Poo (Shih Tzu Toy Poodle) Maeby.

Liz Kate is an Atlanta and Nashville based Actor, Singer-Songwriter and Grammy Nominated Artist best known for her role as Gemma in Dear Evan Hansen (2021) where she was a solo artist on the hit song, You Will Be Found under the direction of Pasek and Paul. The Dear Evan Hansen album recently garnered a nomination for the 64th Annual Grammys (2022) under Best Compilation for Visual Soundtrack. Liz Kate began singing and playing guitar at the young age of 5 and Acting around the age of 6. Training under reputable coaches in the Atlanta area, Liz Kate booked her first film shortly after deciding to actively pursue the industry. The film, Love On The Rocks premiered at the Atlanta Film Festival leading Liz Kate to sign with a well known acting agency in Atlanta. Shortly after gaining representation, Liz Kate booked commercials for Ford Motors and Rooms to Go and had success with other film and television roles as a child (The Candy Shop, Things Past, Life As We Know It). She went on to start writing her own music under the direction of longtime mentor, singer-songwriter and author, Vanessa Olivarez (American Idol, Granville Automatic, The Hidden History of Music Row). At age 11, Liz Kate began training under Mama Jan at Jan Smith Studios and continued to train in guitar and vocals throughout her childhood. By age 12, Liz Kate was discovered by Eddie Owen and Matt Arnett and asked to play at longtime known venues such as Eddie's Attic and Red Clay Theater in Atlanta. When Liz Kate was in her Sophomore year of college, she was discovered by casting agency Telsey + Co and invited to audition for Universal Pictures film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen (Ben Platt, Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Danny Pino). Originally auditioning for a different role, Director Steven Chbowsky asked Liz to perform a cold read for the best friend of Zoe (Kaitlyn Dever) at her callback. Liz quickly switched gears and impressed Chbosky in the callback bringing him to tears, ultimately winning her the role of Gemma opposite Kaitlyn Dever and Ben Platt. With over a decade of professional vocal experience alongside her knowledge gained under Belmont University's prestigious music school, the role was a perfect fit for the team and Liz became a featured solo artist in the film and on the Grammy nominated soundtrack on the hit song, You Will Be Found (Pasek and Paul). Liz Kate, now in her Senior year, a songwriting major at Belmont University, released her first EP in November of 2021 including 5 of her original songs and recently played The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN. In late 2021, Liz Kate booked the lead role in an animated short, The Little Cryptis where she plays the voice of Sally. In early 2022, Liz booked the lead in a short, The Great Panic of 1999 which will be making it's way through the festival circuit in the upcoming year. With other projects in development, Liz looks forward to contributing her vocal and acting talent to stories to inspire growth and positive change in others. Storytelling is something Liz Kate is extremely passionate about and she looks towards producing her own films in the future.
